This is an exciting time to join Phu Bia Mining.  Our Phu Kham Copper-Gold Operation is in its fifth year of production, our Ban Houaxyai Gold-Silver Operation commenced production in 2012 and we have a pipeline of exploration projects in Laos.

This position is based at our Phu Kham Copper-Gold Operation, located approximately 120km north of the Lao capital, Vientiane.  Phu Kham is a conventional open pit mine producing approximately 65,000 tonnes of copper concentrate annually.  The process plant, recently upgraded to a design capacity of 16 million tonnes per annum, comprises a SAG mill and two ball mill grinding circuits, each rated at 13 mega watts, with copper and precious metal recovery by flotation.
Reporting to the Mobile Maintenance Shift Supervisor, you will play a key role in daily maintenance and repairs for all mechanical systems of our brand new mobile plants including heavy equipment and light vehicles to maximize the mechanical availability.

Your key responsibilities will include: 
  • Undertake all mechanical maintenance and repairs for all mobile plants in timely manner comply with Phu Bia Mining safety policies and procedures
  • Pro-actively identify the problems and organise any required works, parts or resources to ensure the mechanical availability is maximised
  • Supervise and train Lao Mechanics to ensure the assigned tasks done correctly and safely
  • Maintain a good housekeeping in line with contamination control standard to achieve Caterpillar “3 star rating”  
To be successful in this role, you will require: 
  • Trade qualification in Heavy Equipment/Mechanical fitting
  • 5 years experience in maintenance and troubleshooting of mechanical systems for a large mining fleet as well as light vehicles with a large mining contractor, owner miner or OEM
  • Recent hands on experience with late model Caterpillar and Komatsu mining equipment desirable
  • Strong understanding of modern maintenance systems, planning and scheduling processes
